About E2C Quote Portal

E2C Quote Portal is a private, internal application operated by E Squared C Inc ("E2C"), a managed IT services provider. It is used only by E2C staff. It is not offered for sale or public sign-up.

What it does

• Quoting: staff build quotes from a catalog of standard parts, priced from our distributors' price and availability services.
• Customer approval: customers get a unique, expiring link to view, approve and electronically sign a quote.
• QuickBooks Online integration: once a quote is approved, the application creates the matching estimate in E2C's own QuickBooks Online company. It also creates purchase orders for the items to be procured, numbered by QuickBooks. It reads the customer, vendor and item lists it needs to match records.

How the QuickBooks connection works

An authorized E2C administrator connects the application to E2C's QuickBooks Online company using Intuit's standard OAuth 2.0 sign-in ("Connect to QuickBooks"). The application uses only the com.intuit.quickbooks.accounting scope. Access tokens are stored encrypted and used only for the actions above. An administrator can disconnect the application at any time, from within the application or from QuickBooks Online (Settings → Manage apps).

Security

• All traffic is served over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+), with HSTS.
• Staff sign in with a password plus a FIDO2 hardware security key (e.g. YubiKey). Password-only access is not possible.
• The staff portal is reachable only from approved network addresses.
• OAuth tokens and distributor API credentials are encrypted at rest with keys held outside the database.
• Security-relevant actions are recorded in an audit log.
